I share your enthusiasm! What a great product. I'm wondering if the hold up on releasing new sets is because the current rules mimic 4e combat and they would like it to mimic D&D Next. Regardless, all of your points of benefit for D&D were spot on, not to mention that the game itself is fun. I hope we see some new sets soon.

Need miniatures? Get the Adventure series games- Castle Ravenloft, Wrath of Ashardalon, Legend of Drizzt. Each of these boardgames come with 40+ sculpts. Even one of these sets would be enough for any campaign. Add the random dungeon floor tiles, counters,Serious value here.

I would love to see the repainted Icingdeath! I thought it was by far the best paint job on all the Icons dragons. If it's improved, it must look fantastic. Thanks for commenting!

My wife has recently taken a liking for mini painting. It began when she decided to improve the paintjob on the "Legend of Drizzt Set" Icingdeath dragon, which is a good miniature but has a very, very bad paint work. Then she painted a mini for her new deva paladin, but she adapted an elf warrior because she hates the 4e official deva design.

Thanks for reading! 4E certainly has some baord game elements. You might look at the D&D Adventure System Games, like Castle Ravenloft and Wrath of Ashardalon. They are quite a bit like 4E and feature fast random dungeons.

Good post and great suggestions. Over the last days I have spent some time creating a way to transform my D&D 4ed in a nice and fast-play board game. My main concern is about how to build fast random dungeons, since I am trying to play in a DM-less style, and my Descent tiles looks quite suitable for this suggestion. Hello from Brazil.

I'm glad you enjoyed the encounter! Let me know how it goes if you end up using it. My group had five players, only one of whom had more than a month's experience with D&D. Some of the fights were very tough. I had Ravide the Black tagging along with the group as a sort of guide, and used him to aid the PCs when things got particularly tough. Might be an option, depending on what your players do.
