Well, it’s been a very crazy week, so I haven’t had much time to post. However, I did want to share something that definitely cheered me up from the general sense of melancholy I’ve had around D&D for the past couple months.
I’m going to be DMing in public for the first time for the upcoming Neverwinter Game Day!
Last night, I visited with the owner of my FLGS, a good friend of mine for many years now. I had seen that DMs who ran a Game Day session got a copy of the 4E remake of Hidden Shrine of Tamaochan, and I asked him if he had a free DM slot. He assured me that it wouldn’t be a problem, so, on August 6, I will load up my kids and maybe a friend or two, and run Gates of Neverdeath at the store.
I’m very much excited about the prospect of DMing again, but I am just as nervous about doing so in public for the first time… ever. I have no idea what to expect, and for someone who likes to plan his sessions out fairly meticulously, it’s not in my comfort zone. There are so many questions that I have. Will anyone else even show up to play? Will I be able to run the adventure well with little to no prep time? Who knows? I’m sure it will be an interesting experience either way.
