Thanks so much for your article about the D&D Box for a DM to stay organized. I purchased the same tackle box that you use and gave it to my husband for his birthday. I showed him your article and alas! he can now be an organized DM (I’m sure you can imagine how all his gaming “stuff” was all over the place).

I’m a 30-something guy that has just started playing D&D for the first time. In a rush of enthusiasm, I’ve picked up the Red Box, DM Kit and Monster Vault. Your blogs about running the adventures included in the box sets has been very helpful. Our group is just starting out (character creation was last week) and I plan on using these adventures and possibly including some of your changes – or thinking of some of my own.
Sorry, this was meant to be a shorter post. My concern is that I am looking toward the future, and I am wondering if you recommend any of the published adventures for our group to use post “Winter King.” I’ve been trying to find good sources for adventures, but I’m afraid I’m just not as imaginative as I should be as DM and Google searches seem to bring up so many resources that I don’t know where to start. Maybe by the time the group defeats the Winter King that will change. Do you have any advice on developing adventures? Or, are there any other blogs or sites that you suggest? Thanks for your time.

If you are looking for published adventures, I would go with Madness at Gardmore Abbey. I’ve not used it, but I’ve heard great things and it looks amazing. If you are a D&D Insider, that’s another vast resource for published adventures.
Developing adventures from scratch is a different beast entirely. I’d recommend Sly Flourish and Critical Hits for some excellent stuff in that regard, particularly Sly Flourish’s first ebook.
Thanks for the recommendation. We haven’t had anyone join DDI yet, but I will keep that in mind as a resource. I know we still have plenty of time until the group gets to that point, but I want to be prepared. I will check out the Sly Flourish resources as well.
